Chapel of Sainte-Suzanne

Mûr-de-Bretagne ( Breton : Mur ) is a former French commune with last 2,078 inhabitants (1 January 2013) in Côtes-d'Armor in the region of Brittany . Mûr-de-Bretagne is a district of the municipality of Guerlédan .

geography

Mûr-de-Bretagne is located in northwest France, about halfway between Brest and Rennes and about 45 kilometers southwest of the English Channel coast near Saint-Brieuc .

history

There are remains of megalithic tombs, which indicates a settlement in the Neolithic .

Two streets from Roman times have been preserved in their course. At that time there was a huge forest area around the place, of which almost nothing is preserved today.

The village initially belonged to the Cornouaille manor , later the landowner family was called Rivière . It died out towards the end of the 15th century.

The municipality of Mûr-de-Bretagne merged with Saint-Guen on January 1, 2017 to form the new municipality of Guerlédan.
