The Route nationale 153 , or N 153 for short, or RN 153 was a French national road .

In 1824 it was established between Bourges and Moulins via Sancoins:

  • D 2076 Bourges - Sancoins
  • D 43 Sancoins - Département border (Cher)
  • D 13 Départmenet border (Allier) - Le Veurde
  • D 101 Le Veurde - Montilly
  • D 13 Montilly - Moulins (West) N9

It goes back to the route impériale 173. Their length was 101 kilometers.

In 1827 the route was changed to the route between Bourges and Souvigny via Cérilly. The length was 104.5 kilometers.

In 1973 the N76 took over the section from Bourges to the intersection with the N719 just before Annoix. The rest of the route was downgraded to departmental roads and at the same time the number was given to the national road N53bis , which carried it until 2006. The road ran through the Allier and Cher departments .
