The Route nationale 178 Bis , or N 178 Bis or RN 178 Bis for short , was a French national road .

The road was laid in 1862 between Laval and the national road 23 to 10 kilometers north of Ancenis . The section between Pouancé and La Chapelle-Glain was part of route stratégique  10 . The road layout did not include an intersection with national road 178 ; therefore, despite its numbering, it remained an independent national road, like all national roads that go back to the Routes stratégiques . The total length was 83 kilometers. In 1973, the section between Laval and Pouancé became part of the new route of national road 171 . The remaining part has been graded. In 2006 the route taken over from the N 171 was then downgraded.
