The Route nationale 158 , shortly N 158 or RN 158 , was a French national road .

It was laid in two parts between Caen and Tours in 1824. It goes back to the route impériale 178. Their total length was 157 kilometers.

To the south of Le Mans , almost six kilometers of the road are used for the Le Mans 24-hour race. In 1973 the southern part, which runs between Le Mans and Tours, was taken over by national road 138 . This has been graduated since 2006. In the same year, the section between Falaise and Sées was also staggered from the northern part , as the motorway 88 was built in parallel , which was then gradually put into operation from 2007 to 2010. The national road between Caen and Falaise has been developed as an expressway. This is to be expanded into a motorway and then rededicated to the A88.
