The N176 is a French national road established between Noyal and Villedieu-les-Poêles in 1824. This tour goes back to the Route impériale 196. Their length was 124.5 kilometers. In 1978 the N175 took over the section between Pontorson and Villedieu-les-Poêles and the N176 was led from Pontaubault to Pré-en-Pail. To do this, it took over individual sections of the N807 and N808:

  • N 176 Lamballe - Pontorson
  • via N 175 (ex N176)
  • N 807 Pontaubault - Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët
  • N 808 Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët - Domfront
  • N 807 Domfront - Pré-en-Pail

In 2006 the section between Pontaubaun and Pré-en-Pail was graduated. An expressway was built between the N12 and Pontorson, on which the N176 was laid. The old guided tour through the towns was staggered.
