The Route nationale 36 , or N 36 or RN 36 for short , is a French national road .

Current course of the road

The current national road serves as a link between the A5 and A4 motorways . It runs between Guignes and Marles-en-Brie via a newly built bypass to the west of the old route.

Historic course of the road

The historic national road ran from Melun to Villers-Cotterêts from 1824 to 1973 . This goes back to the route impériale 42. The length was 96.5 kilometers. In 1973 it was shortened to the Melun - Meaux section, and in 2006 it was shortened again, so that today's road only connects the two motorways.
