The Route nationale 22 , RN 22 or N 22 for short , is a French national road and connects the town of L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre with the miniature state of Andorra . It is the N20 B, renamed in 1978 . In addition to the current route, there was a national road 22 with a different route until 1973.

Current course of the road

The current national road 22 connects the place L'Hospitalet-près-l'Andorre and the national road 20 with the miniature state Andorra for about 12 km . It was created in 1978 by renaming the Route nationale 20 B , because during the reform in 1972 the superscript letters were to be dropped on all national roads that were still being operated by the state.

Historic course of the road

The historic Route nationale 22 was built in 1824 and led from Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon to the ferry terminal to the Île de Ré near La Rochelle . This route goes back to route 25 impériale. Their length was 47 kilometers. In 1978, the entire route on Route nationale 22 was taken over by National Road 11 .
