The N85 is a French national road that was broken in 1824 by the N75 between Bourgoin-Jallieu and Grasse. Their total length was 350 kilometers. It goes back to the route impériale 103. In 1828 it was extended to Antibes as the N7 was given a new route. That made it 371 kilometers long. In 1870 it was taken down from this route and taken via the D6 (until 1860 as D15 in the Var department) to Cagnes-sur-Mer. The length changed to 376 kilometers. In 1932 it was given the title " Route Napoléon " because it essentially corresponds to Napoléon's route on his return from Elba in 1815. In 1973 there was a graduation between Grasse and Cagnes-sur-Mer. 1978 was followed by a realignment:

  • N 85 Bourgoin-Jallieu - Grasse
  • N 567 Grasse - Cannes

In 2006 the N85 was reduced to the sections between Le Pont-de-Claix and Gap , and Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban and Barrême .

N1085

The first N1085 was built in 1990 as an expressway between Grasse and Cannes parallel to the N85. Since 2006 the road has been Départementstraße 6185. A second N1085 was built in 1996 as a southern bypass of Digne-les-Bains. The N85 was relocated to this in 2004.

N2085

The designation N2085 was used from 1933 for several local passages of the N85, when these were each relocated to a bypass road around the village. All have been Départemen streets since 2006.

  • Pont-de-Claix (D1085 A )
  • Basse-Jarrie (D1085 B )
  • Pierre-Châtel (D1085 C )
  • Poët (D22 & D722)

The number was also used for the N85 between Grasse and Cannes when it was transferred to the N1085 expressway.
