The Route nationale 88bis , or N 88bis or RN 88bis for short , was a French national road .
The road was laid in 1846 between Le Puy and Vorey . Their length was 20 kilometers. In 1894 there was an extension to the intersection with the national road 103 at Retournac; however, the road was only fully expanded there in 1903. The length increased to 31.5 kilometers.
In 1933, the route was taken over by the N 103 and thus disappeared from the French road network. Originally it was planned to build the N 88bis through the Loire Valley to the ferry in Confolent in order to create an alternative route to the N 88, as the Col du Pertuis was often impassable in winter.
