The Route nationale 91 , or N 91 or RN 91 for short , was a French national road .
The road was laid between Vizille and Briançon in 1824. It goes back to route 110 impériale . Their length was 99 kilometers. She repeatedly experienced local relocations through bypass roads, the construction of the Barrage du Chambon and the like. In 2006 it was downgraded. The road crossed the Grand Clot Tunnel , which opened in 1971. The road was often used for the Tour de France , as the roads to Alpe-d'Huez and Les Deux-Alpes, which are often the destinations of the stages, branch off from it, as does the road to the Col du Galibier .
On April 10, 2015, the road at Lac du Chambon was closed because the Grand Tunnel du Chambon was inaccessible due to a landslide due to the risk of collapse. After creating a bypass, the road has been fully accessible again since December 15, 2017.
