The Route nationale 21 B , or N 21 B or RN 21 B for short , was a French national road within Lourdes .

The road was established in 1875 as a link from National Road 21 to the grotto and basilica. At that time it should have been worn as number 21bis, as this was common before 1933 and there was no N 21 A at that time . After a spring was discovered in the grotto in 1858, which was created in connection with visions of a girl from the area and the visions were classified as a divine event by the Catholic Church, an extensive church infrastructure was built in the years after that, to which pilgrimages have been made since then. In this context, upgrading was necessary. In 1968 the northern approach road of the N 21 was then designated as the N 21 B , as it was moved to the eastern bypass. In 1973 the road was then graded.
