The Route nationale 23 , or N 23 or RN 23 for short , was a French national road .

The street number was first added to the national road network in 1824.

Until 1973 the route ran from Chartres to Paimbœuf . From 1973 the road was shortened and only leads to Nantes . In 2006, the entire route of the national road between Chartres and Nantes was declassified.

The national road 23 ran back on the route of the former route impériale 26.

N 23a

N 23b

The N 23 B was a branch of the national road 23.

The side branch was added to the national road network in 1958. The route led in Nantes to Nantes-Atlantique Airport.

The street was  downgraded to Departementsstrasse 823 in 1973 .

In contrast to the one that existed from 1824 to 1949 , the N123, established in 1978, is a side branch of the N23, which was established as the southern bypass of Chartres. It is with her the previous N10 D . It runs from the D923 (until 2006 N23) west of Chartres in continuation to the N1154 to the east dipping D910 (until 2006 N10). Its length was initially 11.5 kilometers. In 2006, the south-eastern section between the D910 and N154 was graduated together with the N10 and N23, so that today it only connects the N154 and N1154 as part of the first variant of the Grand contournement de Paris . Its current length is 8 kilometers. They will be completely phased out as soon as the A154 goes into operation as an eastern bypass.
