life and work

1971-1979

Eamonn McCormack started playing acoustic guitar at the age of nine. Early influences on this were Slade , Cat Stevens , Neil Young and Rory Gallagher . At twelve he accompanied his singing and entertained people at church events. He found this increasingly restrictive and so he bought his first electric guitar (Guild Starfire) and devoted himself to the lead guitar game. During this time he joined a local garage cover band, also with the intention of getting his first paid gig. The musical influences now also included musicians such as Jimi Hendrix , Eric Clapton , Thin Lizzy and the Dutch group Focus . At sixteen, Eamonn first appeared live on a radio show. Around the same time he won an important high school competition where he played his own material.

1979-1983 USA

During these years Eamonn McCormack lived and toured in the USA. Through a very large number of appearances there, he formed his very personal style of blues and blues-rock, which combined his Irish roots as well as North American music and culture.

1983–2002 The "Samuel Eddy" years

Back in Europe, Eamonn McCormack began his career under the pseudonym "Samuel Eddy". In countless appearances in clubs and festivals, the band earned respect and attention. This was rewarded with record deals with Universe Productions / Virgin Records and SPV Records. Three albums, highly acclaimed by international critics, were made during this period. In addition to his own studio work, Eamonn had numerous guest appearances on tours or in the studio with well-known musicians such as B. Johnny Winter, Jan Akkerman, Niels Lofgren, Rory Gallagher. For many fans his appearance at the Parkpop Festival in Holland in front of an estimated 500,000 visitors in summer 2002 remains unforgettable. Samuel Eddy's band opened for ZZ Top and Robert Plant. In the spring of the same year Eamonn McCormack completed a successful tour with Walter Trout and Popa Chubby and recorded eight new tracks with Paul Thomas (U2, Phil Lynott) in the Dublin studio. During his time as Samuel Eddy, Eamonn McCormack was also a guest at the WDR's Rockpalast.

2002–2009 time-out years / True Talent Records

After the Parkpop Festival in Amsterdam, Eamonn McCormack decided to leave the music business for a while. Diverse personal experiences, but also the physical wear and tear caused by permanent travel and appearance called for consideration for one's own personality. This was followed by an extended period of quieter traveling, jamming and songwriting. At the end of this period, the indie record label True Talent Records was founded, based in Dublin. Since then he has been giving young Irish musicians a starting chance on this label, his own. Artists like the band Glyder or the young Leanne Harte were able to use this chance successfully. A “best of” album by Eamonn McCormack was also released on True Talent Records, on which mainly earlier Samuel Eddy titles in a more recent technical revision as well as previously unreleased material are offered. Well-known guest musicians participated on this work entitled Kindred Spirits : Keith Donald, Herman Brood, Jan Akkerman and the last recording with Rory Gallagher can be heard here. With these new activities, Eamonn ended his creative break and stepped back into the limelight.

2009–2011 Eamonn McCormack currently

Since the end of 2009, Eamonn McCormack has been active again as a blues-rock guitarist, songwriter, producer and mentor. His marriage in 2010 meant that Eamonn can often be found in Germany as well as Ireland. Here he signed a multi-year contract with In Akustik Records in the summer of 2011, which provides for the release of four albums and two DVDs in the following years. In spring 2011 Eamonn and his current trio; Marc-Inti Männel-Saavedra, bass and Joe Kirschgen, drums recorded a new album in Toolhouse Studios, Rotenburg / Fulda.
