Belgium Further on N6

The Route nationale 2 , or N2 or RN 2 for short , is a French national road that emerged from the Route impériale 2 in 1824. Until 2006, the road ran from the Porte de la Villette des Boulevard périphérique exit to the Belgian border near Bettignies . Their length was 229 kilometers.

Border with Belgium

The road now runs from Carrefour Jean Monnet in Aulnay-sous-Bois , northeast of Paris, to the Belgian border at Bettignies. At the border, it has continued as Belgian national road 6 to Brussels since the 1980s, previously with the same destination as number 7. This continuation is the route of the former route impériale 2.

In 1970, the construction of the Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport caused a route interruption, which was bridged by the N2 Bis from 1974 . This was integrated into the N2 in 1978. The N17 took over in 1973 until the junction of the N2 Bis the route of the N2 and the two remaining sections separated by the airport became departmental roads . South of Maubeuge, the bypass will be extended as a dual carriageway towards Avesnes. The original route will be graded in parallel.

N2 E

The N2 E was created in 1953 from the N2 through Laon when it was relocated to the newly built eastern bypass. It was downgraded to Départementstrasse 5 and 51 in 1956.

N2 to

The N2 Bis was built between 1974 and 1977 as an expressway between the N2 in Le Bourget and the N2 northeast of Dammartin-en-Goële. In 1978 it was integrated into the N2, which was interrupted by the construction of Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. In 1990 the section between Villepinte and Mitry-Mory was taken over by the Francilienne (A104).

N2002

The N2002 was the number of two side branches of the N2. It appeared for the first time in 1976 on the old through-town of Etrœungt, as the N2 was relocated to the east around the town when the bypass was opened. It became the D2602 in 2006. The second N2002 appeared in Maubeuge in 2005. A western bypass was put into operation there. Also graduated since 2006, it now bears the number D602.
