geography

The municipality and is located in the valley of the Serre and at the parallel Vilpion , about 22 kilometers northeast of Laon .

history

In the Middle Ages, Marle was a fortified city at the entrance to the Thiérache and at times the seat of the county of the same name .

During the First World War , the headquarters of AOK 7 was located here from March 17, 1917 .
