Mairie Anguilcourt-le-Sart

Anguilcourt-le-Sart is a French village with 315 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Aisne department in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Laon and the canton of Tergnier .

The municipality was created between 1785 and 1790 by amalgamating the places Anguilcourt and Le Sart.

The most famous son of the community was the hydraulic engineer Aimable Hageau .

Events

On May 19, 1983, 41 steel drums with the toxic waste from the Seveso accident , which had been missing since September 1982, were found in a former slaughterhouse in Anguilcourt-le-Sart. Shortly afterwards they were taken to the barracks in Sissonne and finally to Switzerland.
