Athies-sous-Laon is a French commune with 2,604 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Laon and the Canton of Laon-2 .
geography
Athies-sous-Laon is about four kilometers east-northeast of Laon on the River Barentons . Athies-sous-Laon is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Chambry in the north and northwest, Samoussy in the east, Eppes in the southeast, Parfondru and Bruyères-et-Montbérault in the south and Laon in the west. The Laon-Athies military airfield used to exist in the east of the municipality .
The A26 autoroute runs through the municipality .
