Anizy-le-Grand is a French commune with 2,533 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Laon and the Canton of Laon-1 .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities Anizy-le-Château , Faucoucourt and Lizy , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Anizy-le-Château.

geography
The community is about twelve kilometers southwest of Laon . On the southern border is the Ailette river with the parallel Canal de l'Oise à l'Aisne . The municipality crosses the Grand-Marais Graben , a wooded wetland with several small lakes and ponds .
Neighboring municipalities are: Cessières-Suzy in the northeast, Bourguignon-sous-Montbavin in the east, Merlieux-et-Fouquerolles in the southeast, Pinon and Vauxaillon in the south, Landricourt and Quincy-Basse in the southwest, Brancourt-en-Laonnois in the west and Wissignicourt in the northwest .
