Anizy-le-Château is a former French community and today's commune Déléguée with 1,939 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belonged to the arrondissement of Laon and the canton of Laon-1 (until 2015: canton of Anizy-le-Château ). Anizy-le-Château, Faucoucourt and Lizy were merged with effect from January 1, 2019 to form the Commune nouvelle Anizy-le-Grand .

geography

Anizy-le-Château is located about 13 kilometers southwest of Laon on the banks of the Ailette River and the Oise-Aisne Canal . Anizy-le-Château is surrounded by the suburbs Brancourt-en-Laonnois and Wissignicourt in the north, Lizy in the east, Pinon in the south and south-east, Vauxaillon in the south-west, Landricourt in the west and Quincy-Basse in the north-west.
