Saint-Paul-aux-Bois is located about 27 kilometers northeast of Compiègne on the Canal de l'Oise à l'Aisne . The Ailette limits the community in the northeast. Saint-Paul-aux-Bois is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Manicamp in the north and north-west, Bichancourt in the north, Pierremande in the north-east, Champs in the east, Blérancourt in the south-west and Besmé in the west and south-west.
