Charmes is a French commune with 1,652 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Laon , the community association Chauny Tergnier la Fère and the canton Tergnier .

geography

Charmes is located in the valley of the Oise , about 24 kilometers south-southeast of Saint-Quentin and 23 kilometers northwest of Laon . Charmes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Fère in the north and west, Danizy in the north and northeast, Rougécourt in the east, Bertaucourt-Epourdon in the south and Andelain in the southwest.
