Katharina von Arx

Edith Katharina Drilhon-von Arx (born April 5, 1928 in Niedergösgen ; † October 25, 2013 in Romainmôtier ) was a Swiss writer and journalist .

biography

Von Arx was born in Niedergösgen and moved to Zurich with her family in 1933 . There she graduated from business school in 1947. From 1952 to 1953 she studied art in Vienna ; soon afterwards she went on a trip around the world, about which she described in her book Please take me with you! A hitchhiking trip around the world reported. Von Arx was married to the journalist and photographer Freddy Drilhon, with whom she had a daughter who was born in 1958. In 1959 the family acquired the priors house in Romainmôtier in the canton of Vaud , which they restored over many years and where von Arx lived until her death. The couple's estate has been in theArchive on the history of the Swiss women's movement of the Gosteli Foundation in Worblaufen .

Awards

Von Arx received the Culture Prize of the Canton of Solothurn in 1975, the Olten Prize in 1976, and received various work grants from foundations, the federal government and the canton.
