Marest-Dampcourt is a French municipality with 369 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Laon and the canton of Chauny .
geography
The municipality, consisting of the larger Marest and Dampcourt, located directly on the border with the Oise department , is roughly halfway between the towns of Soissons , Saint-Quentin and Compiègne . The Oise and the parallel Oise Lateral Canal run to the south of the municipality .
