Barenton-Bugny is a French commune with 555 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aisne department of the Picardy region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Laon and the canton of Marle (until 2015: canton of Crécy-sur-Serre ).

Barenton-Bugny is about eight kilometers north-northeast of Laon city center on the Barentons River . Barenton-Bugny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Barenton-Cel in the north, Verneuil-sur-Serre in the north and northeast, Grandlup-et-Fay in the northeast, Monceau-le-Waast in the east, Samoussy in the southeast, Chambry in the south and Laon in the South and south-west and Aulnois-sous-Laon in the west.
