The N109 is a French national road established between Montpellier and Cartels in 1824. It goes back to the Roue impériale 129. Their length was 47 kilometers. In 1970, the section between Rabieux and Cartels was taken over by the N9, which was relocated to this route because its old route ran in the reservoir area of the newly emerging Lac de Salagou. From the 1990s onwards, the N109 was gradually relocated to local expressways. This is now almost completely developed as a motorway and bears the number A750 on these sections (side branch of the A75 to Montpellier).
