The Route nationale 42 , N 42 or RN 42 for short , is a French national road .

It was established in 1824 between Lille and Boulogne-sur-Mer and goes back to route 55 impériale. Their length was 118 kilometers. In 1973 it was staggered between a road junction with the former national road 344 and Lille and in 1978 it was led over the route of the N 344 to the motorway 25 near Bailleul :

  • N 42 Boulogne-sur-Mer - junction with the N 344
  • N 344 junction with the N 42 - A25 (junction 11)

In 2006 it was graduated between Autobahn 26 and A25. Most of the rest of the section has been developed as an expressway and is to be converted into the 260 motorway .

N 2042

The Route nationale 2042 , N 2042 or RN 2042 for short , was a French national road and was used from the 1990s for several side branches of the N 42, which emerged as the N 42 from several places (Strazeele, Tatinghem, Seninghem and Coulomby) was placed on bypasses. They were all downgraded in 2006.
