The Route nationale 149 , or N 149 or RN 149 for short , was a French national road .

The national road was established in 1824 between an intersection with national road 148 at Fontenay-le-Comte and Les Sables-d'Olonne . In 1973 this 74 kilometer long road was completely downgraded. In return, the national road 148bis was rededicated to the national road 149. This is gradually being replaced by a parallel expressway with the number of national road 249, which partially exists or is under construction . Both are part of the northwest branch of the Center-Europe-Atlantique route .
