Historic course of the road

The historic national road 142 was established in 1824 between a road junction with the national road 147 northwest of Bellac and Aubusson and goes back to the route impériale 162. Their length was 125 kilometers.

In 1973 it was downgraded except for the section between Guéret and Le Maubert , which was rededicated to national road 145 . In 1987 the southern access road from Boulogne-sur-Mer , which was previously part of National Road 1, was used. The national road 1, however, was placed on a bypass , which is now part of the Autobahn 16 .

In 2006 the street was stepped to Départementsstraße 901 E1 .
