Aubusson is a French commune in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the department of Creuse . It is the seat of the sub-prefecture of the same name . The place is located at an average altitude of 512 m, has an area of ​​19.21 km² and is inhabited by 3366 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

Aubusson is world-famous for its tapestry factories. The origin of picture knitting goes back to the 15th century. At times, Aubusson was a supplier to the French royal court. The traditional patterns of the tapestries from Aubusson were modernized by Jean Lurçat around 1939 .
