Felletin ( Occitan Falatin ) is a French municipality with 1593 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located in the Creuse department , in the Aubusson arrondissement . Felletin is the main town in the canton of Felletin .

geography

Felletin is about 7.5 kilometers south of Aubusson at the foot of the Plateau de Millevaches . In the west, the Creuse limits the community. The train station of Felletin is situated on the railway line Busseau-sur-Creuse - Ussel that ends in Felletin.

history

The Sainte-Valérie church was built from 1121 to 1125. In 1356 the English invaded the area and town during the Hundred Years War . At the beginning of the 15th century, the Château de Beaumont was destroyed. In addition to the ruins, only the chapel remains. From 1576 to 1580 the Huguenots ruled the place. In 1795 the Saint-Blaise church was destroyed.

The earlier fame of the textile factories , the tapestry factories and picture knitwear , has largely declined. The Piton studio still exists.
