La Courtine , in Occitan "La Cortina", is a municipality in the Massif Central in France . It belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , the Creuse department and the Aubusson arrondissement .

Geography and infrastructure

La Courtine was the chief town (chief lieu) of the canton of La Courtine and was defeated to the canton of Aubusson in 2015 . The municipality borders on Magnat-l'Étrange in the north, Beissat in the northeast, Saint-Oradoux-de-Chirouze in the east, Saint-Martial-le-Vieux in the southeast, Saint-Rémy in the south and Sornac in the southwest , to the west by Le Mas-d'Artige and to the north-west by Clairavaux .

The former route national 696 ends in La Courtine. The continuous former Route nationale 682 leads over the Col du Massoubre at 815 meters above sea level to Felletin .

The municipality has a share in the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Nature Park .
