The Canton Auzances (Occitan Canton Ausança ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement Aubusson in Creuse in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; its main town is Auzances .

The canton is located in the southeast of the Creuse department.

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, twelve communities belonged to the canton of Auzances. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, another 23 municipalities from other cantons moved to the canton of Auzances. These come from the cantons of Crocq (14 municipalities) and La Courtine (9 municipalities).

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Aubusson included the twelve municipalities of Auzances , Brousse , Bussière-Nouvelle , Chard , Charron , Châtelard , Dontreix , Le Compas , Les Mars , Lioux-les-Monges , Rougnat and Sermur . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​210.80 km ² .

In the runoff election for the General Council of the Départements Creuse on March 29, 2015, the team Jérémie Sauty / Valérie Simonet (UMP / now LR) won against Philippe Breuil / Françoise Simon (Union de la gauche) with a share of the vote of 51.59% (turnout: 68.44%).
