The Canton Bourganeuf (Occitan Canton Borgon Nuòu ) is a French constituency in Creuse in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine , his main town is Bourganeuf .

history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, 13 municipalities belonged to the canton of Bourganeuf. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, four of the seven previous communes of the canton Royère-de-Vassivière switched to the canton Bourganeuf.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the 13 municipalities of Auriat , Bosmoreau-les-Mines , Bourganeuf , Faux-Mazuras , Mansat-la-Courrière , Masbaraud-Mérignat , Montboucher , Saint-Amand-Jartoudeix , Saint belonged to the Bourganeuf canton -Dizier-Leyrenne , Saint-Martin-Sainte-Catherine , Saint-Pierre-Chérignat , Saint-Priest-Palus and Soubrebost . Its layout corresponded to an area of 278.42 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 2307.
