It was created with effect from January 1, 2019 as Commune nouvelle through the amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities Masbaraud-Mérignat and Saint-Dizier-Leyrenne , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Saint-Dizier-Leyrenne.

The community is located around 20 kilometers southwest of Guéret and is affected by the Taurion rivers and its tributary Leyrenne . Neighboring municipalities are: Augères in the north, Janaillat and Thauron in the northeast, Bosmoreau-les-Mines and Mansat-la-Courrière in the southeast, Bourganeuf in the south, Montboucher in the west and Châtelus-le-Marcheix and Ceyroux in the northwest.
