Tercillat , in Occitan "Tercilhac", is a municipality in the Massif Central in France . It belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , the Creuse department , the Guéret arrondissement and the Boussac canton . It borders on the Indre department to the north, Nouzerines to the east, Bétête to the south and La Cellette to the west . The residents call themselves Tercillatois.

history

During the French Revolution the place was called "Tercillat-et-Saint-Paul". Later it was named "Tercillac-Lepeletier" in homage to the politician Louis-Michel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau (* 1760, † 1793). Since 1799 the municipality is officially called "Tercillat".
