Méasnes (1801 still with the spelling Meane ) is a French commune in the Creuse in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (2015 Limousin ). The municipality with 544 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) belongs to the arrondissement of Guéret and to the municipality of Portes de la Creuse en Marche, founded in 2019 .

The municipality of Méasnes on the border with the Indre department lies on the Lavaud , a tributary of the Creuse , between the towns of Guéret (35 km away) and Châteauroux (50 km away).

Neighboring municipalities of Méasnes are Montchevrier in the north, Aigurande in the northeast, Lourdoueix-Saint-Pierre in the east and south, Nouzerolles in the southwest, Lourdoueix-Saint-Michel in the west and Orsennes in the northwest.

There are 33 farms in the community (growing grain and vegetables, raising cattle, sheep and goats, keeping pigs).

The D 32 trunk road from Charmes to Rambervillers runs through the municipality of Essegney . In the nearby town of Charmes there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 57 from Nancy to Épinal . Charmes station, one and a half kilometers from Essegney, is on the Blainville-Damelevières-Lure railway line .
