Orsennes is a French municipality with 758 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Indre in the Region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of La Châtre and the canton of Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre (until 2015: canton of Aigurande ). The inhabitants are called Orsennais .

Orsennes is located about 40 kilometers south-southeast of Châteauroux . The municipality is affected in the east and northeast by the Gargilesse river . Neighboring municipalities of Orsennes are Malicornay in the north and northwest, Maillet in the north, Cluis in the northeast, Montchevrier in the east, Méasnes in the southeast, Lourdoueix-Saint-Michel in the south, Saint-Plantaire in the west and southwest, Gargilesse-Dampierre in the west and Pommiers in the Northwest.
