Montgivray is a French commune with 1,600 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Indre in the Region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of La Châtre , to the canton of Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre (until 2015: canton of La Châtre ) and to the communal association Communauté de communes de la Châtre et Sainte Sévère . The inhabitants are called Montgivrains .

location

Montgivray is 32 kilometers southeast of Châteauroux in the southeast of the department in Boischaut-Sud on the Indre . Montgivray is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nohant-Vic in the north, Lourouer-Saint-Laurent in the northeast, Lacs in the east, La Châtre in the south and southeast, Le Magny in the south, Chassignolles in the south and southwest and Sarzay in the west.
