Mers-sur-Indre is about 26 kilometers south-east of Châteauroux . The municipality is crossed by the river Indre into which the Vauvre flows. Neighboring municipalities of Mers-sur-Indre are Ardentes in the north and north-west, Sassierges-Saint-Germain in the north, Saint-Août in the north-east, Montipouret in the east, Tranzault in the south, Lys-Saint-Georges in the west and south-west and Jeu-les- Bois in the west.
