The District of Le Grand-Bourg (Occitan Canton Le Borg ) is a French constituency in the district Gueret , in Creuse and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; its main town is Le Grand-Bourg .

history

The canton was founded on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, seven municipalities belonged to the canton of Le Grand-Bourg. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, all ten municipalities of the previous canton of Bénévent-l'Abbaye were added.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Le Grand-Bourg included the seven municipalities of Chamborand , Fleurat , Le Grand-Bourg , Lizières , Saint-Étienne-de-Fursac , Saint-Pierre-de-Fursac and Saint-Priest -la-Plaine . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​197.99 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 2318.

In the runoff election to the General Council of the Creuse department on March 29, 2015, the team Annie Chamberaud / Bertrand Labar (DVD) won against Didier Bardet / Nadine Tessier (PS) with a share of the vote of 54.98% (turnout: 60.70%).
