The Canton Bonnat (Occitan Canton Bonnat ) is a French constituency in the district Gueret , in Creuse and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; its main town is Bonnat .

The canton is located in the north of the Creuse department.

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, 13 municipalities belonged to the canton of Bonnat. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the municipality of Nouzerolles moved to the canton of Dun-le-Palestel . At the same time, six of the ten previous municipalities in the canton of Châtelus-Malvaleix switched to the canton of Bonnat.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton Bonnat included the 13 municipalities of Bonnat , Chambon-Sainte-Croix , Champsanglard , Chéniers , La Forêt-du-Temple , Le Bourg-d'Hem , Linard , Lourdoueix-Saint-Pierre , Malval , Méasnes , Mortroux , Moutier-Malcard and Nouzerolles . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​260.35 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 2306.
