Chambonchard is a French municipality with 82 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Creuse in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Aubusson and the canton of Évaux-les-Bains .
geography
The municipality is located around 30 kilometers southwest of Montluçon , on the border with the neighboring departments Allier and Puy-de-Dôme in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , which is formed here by the Cher River. Neighboring municipalities to Chambonchard are:
- La Petite-Marche in the northeast,
- Saint-Marcel-en-Marcillat in the east,
- Château-sur-Cher in the southeast and
- Évaux-les-Bains to the south, west, north-west.
The place itself lies in a loop of the river on the left bank of the Cher , into which the tartasse flows on the opposite side of the river . The municipal office is a little away from the river in the hamlet of Le Theix .
