Gouzon (also: Gouzougnat ; Occitan Gosom ) is a French municipality with 1,580 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It is located in the Creuse department , in the Aubusson arrondissement and belongs to the canton of Gouzon (canton of Jarnages until 2015 ). The inhabitants are the gouzonnaises .
geography
Gouzon is located about 28 kilometers east of Guéret in the Massif Central on the river Voueize and its tributary Goze . Route nationale 145 ( Europastraße 62 ) runs through the municipality . The Parsac-Gouzon station on the Montluçon - Saint-Sulpice-Laurière railway line is in the neighboring municipality of Parsac-Rimondeix .

history
A prehistoric as well as a Gallo-Roman settlement are proven. In 1187, the village appears in the books of the Cistercian Abbey of Bonlieu.
