Textile and Jute Ministry

The Ministry of Textiles and Jute is one of the ministries in Dhaka . Among other things, it is responsible for the textile industry in Bangladesh .

The current minister is Emaj Uddin Pramanik .

history

The predecessor of the Jute Ministry was founded in 1973, the predecessor of the Textile Ministry in 1977. Both emerged from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and were previously departments of the same. In 1984 the two departments were separated from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce as part of a reform, and in 1986 they became independent ministries. In 2004 the ministries were merged to form the Textile and Jute Ministry.
