Vervins ( Flemish : Werven ) is a French municipality with 2552 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France . It is the seat of the sub-prefecture of the Vervins arrondissement and a member of the Thiérache du Center municipal association .

geography

Along with Hirson and Guise, Vervins is one of the main towns in the Thiérache region in northeast Picardy. The small town is located on the Chertemps , a tributary of the Vilpion , about 45 kilometers east of Saint-Quentin and 37 kilometers northeast of Laon .
