The village of Effry is on the Oise . Effry is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Wimy in the north, Ohis in the east and the municipalities of Étréaupont in the canton of Vervins in the south and Luzoir in the west.

history

During the First World War, there was a German military hospital in Effry, which housed between one thousand and two thousand wounded. The bodies of 681 soldiers who died in the hospital are buried in the military cemetery next to the civil cemetery.
