Aisonville-et-Bernoville is a French municipality with 255 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France .
geography
Aisonville-et-Bernoville is located about 18 kilometers northeast of Saint-Quentin in the north of the Aisne department, near the Oise . The next larger town is Guise in the southeast , the border with the North Department is less than 10 kilometers away. The urban area extends to the west and south far beyond the building line. The centers of the two original villages are connected by the D68.
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in 1151 under the name Aisunvilla in the copy book of Fesmy Abbey. The name is probably derived from a previous resident of Aizo . Until the French Revolution , the two places belonged to two separate parishes, only until 1794 were the two places administratively merged. Like much of the department, the community was the scene of fierce fighting during the First World War . Between 1901 and 1951 Aisonville-et-Bernoville was connected to the rail network. According to the industrial strength of the region, a train ran between Le Catelet and Guise. Due to declining profitability, the line was discontinued after the Second World War . The rails are no longer visible today, the station building is inhabited.
Population development
It is the mentioned industrialization in Picardy, which is also reflected in the population. As can be seen from the table below, the population increased rapidly over the first half of the 19th century, before falling to pre-revolutionary proportions thereafter. (Numbers from INSEE)

politics
The voting behavior of the community shows a gradual turn to the extreme right of the Front National . In 2002 Jean-Marie Le Pen was ahead of Jacques Chirac in the first ballot . In all elections between 2012 and 2017, the Front National candidates were in the lead, with the exception of the last parliamentary election, in which the incumbent Jean-Louis Bricout from nearby Bohain-en-Vermandois narrowly prevailed. Exactly as many applicants ran for the city council as there were places, there is no political confrontation here. The turnout in town was recently between 60% and 70%.
Culture and sights
The two churches of the two original districts, Saint-Jean and Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité and the Château de Bernoville, which was built for Jacques François de Chastenet de Puységur at the beginning of the 18th century and today partly as a monument, should be emphasized historique is classified. A stele commemorates the dead of the two world wars.
