Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache is a French commune with 2,602 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Vervins and the canton of Guise . The inhabitants are called Nouvionnais .
geography
Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache is located on the Morteau River (also called Ancienne Sambre ), a tributary of the Noirrieu , which runs in the southern municipality. Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beaurepaire-sur-Sambre in the north, Fontenelle in the northeast, Papleux and La Flamengrie in the east, La Capelle and Buironfosse in the southeast, Leschelle and Esquéhéries in the south, Boué in the west and Barzy-en -Thiérache in the northwest.
The former route nationale 39 (today's D1043) and 365 (today's D965) run through the municipality .
