history

Irish monks came to the region in the seventh century. One of them was Adalgisus , who settled near the Oise , where he lived as a hermit. His great piety and fame attracted people who settled in the area, which later became the parish of Saint-Algis.

Saint-Algis is surrounded by the neighboring communities Englancourt in the north-west, Erloy in the north, Autreppes in the east, Haution in the south and the community of Marly-Gomont in the canton of Guise in the west.
