The community is located around 40 kilometers northeast of Laon Prefecture . Landouzy-la-Cour is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Plomion in the south-east, Harcigny in the south, Thenailles in the south-west, the canton capital Vervins in the west, La Bouteille in the north-west and the communes of Origny-en-Thiérache in the canton of Hirson in the north and Landouzy-la -Ville to the northeast.

The place Landouzy-la-Cour arose from a farm of the former Abbey of Foigny .
